Grayer's Nursery Reveal

Nursery reveal? Isn't Grayer 6 months old? Yes and yes. Clearly, I am a little behind on posting little man's nursery pictures. #secondchildproblems

I knew almost immediately when we found out we were having another boy that I wanted to do an airplane-themed nursery. And I am really happy with how it turned out. I stuck with a color scheme of mostly gray, white, and navy, with a few pops of yellow.

I had a couple of bedding sets picked out, but nothing that I was really crazy about. Then I saw this bedding set at Target and LOVED it. It was cheaper than all the others I had my eye on, and I liked it wayyyyy more. Win-win! Wells was not ready to transition into a big boy bed, so we decided to go ahead and buy another crib, and I knew I wanted to go with white this time around.

We picked up the wooden banner letters from Hobby Lobby to spell out "Fly with me" - this may be my favorite touch in the entire room :) And the striped rug from Home Goods really helped to bring in the navy and white like I envisioned.

I got Grayer's dresser through an online yard sale for $40! I was planning to redo Wells' dresser and then redo my childhood dresser for Wells' room. But when I found this dresser (already painted to match the room!), it was perfect. And I didn't really have the energy for 2 dresser projects while pregnant and parenting a 1-year-old. #keepingitreal ...I will probably switch out the knobs when I find something that I like, but for now, I don't mind them one bit. I've had the vintage yellow suitcase for years and love how it brings some color into the room. The diaper basket on the dresser is from Home Goods - it has a fabric liner with an airplane print. This was the first purchase I made for the nursery and gave me inspiration for the room.

The little gallery wall is a collection of frames we already had lying around. In the frames, I included Grayer's 3D ultrasound picture (those lips!!!), a maternity picture, a piece of cloud scrapbook paper, and a navy chevron scrap of fabric that I already had in my craft supplies. I found the dark denim-covered "G" at Michaels. The airplane painting is from my talented bestie, Mary Beth (make sure to visit her Etsy shop!)

The blue crate on the wall is from Hobby Lobby, and so is the yellow model airplane. I purchased a couple of little plane board books, and the metal "G" is from Michaels. The globe is from Home Goods, I believe.

The rocking chair is the one from my Grandma's house that I used in Wells' nursery. It got a fresh coat of white paint to match the room. We sewed up the throw pillow from a gorgeous airplane fabric my mom found at Hobby Lobby.

Some last little touches were the plain navy curtains, the wood-burned plaque with Grayer's initials from my sister-in-law, and the little box of baby toys (with the most adorable airplane toy my sister gave us at Grayer's shower).

Overall, I really love the way the nursery turned out...even if it took me six months to finally take pictures of it! :)

Grayer is FIVE Months!

How has another month already passed? Our baby is five months old and thisclose to being half a year old already! What??? Our little photo shoot with the month sticker was probably the worst one yet. Haha! We were literally about to head out the door plus I was trying to keep Grayer from falling over while he was lunging for the toy airplane plus I also have a two-year old banshee running around at all times (including during his brother's photo shoots. the nerve!). Anyway, it is what it is. #realtalk

"Mom, I'm not really feeling the pictures this month..."
"No, really, Mom. I'm done."

Here's what Grayer has been up to..

Weighs: Our boy is 16 lbs and 5 oz. He gained a little over a pound this month.

Sleeps: No sooner had I mentioned in the last update that Grayer had not experienced the dreaded 4-month sleep regression, he decided to mock me and wake up more at night than he had been previously doing. It hasn't been horrible, but I am hoping that we get back to normal soon! He still takes a morning nap, afternoon nap, and then a short evening catnap.

Eats: Grayer is still nursing well and is still loving trying new foods. This month we added sweet potatoes and carrots to his ever-growing list of foods. He hasn't turned anything down yet! He eats solids at least once a day, and sometimes he will eat twice a day. When we are eating, Grayer follows the food with his eyes and sometimes reaches for it. He grabbed something Eric was eating right out of his hand the other day :)

Wears: Grayer is wearing 3-6 month clothes, but I'd say the 6-month outfits are now the best fit. He has worn a couple of 6-9 month clothes as well. He is still in a size 2 diaper.

Plays: Grayer is so alert and always watching what is going on around him. He is really starting to enjoy playing with some toys now. He loves his teething keys. He is very ticklish, especially under his arms and on his back, and will cackle if you tickle him. It is too adorable. He does like to sit in his walker and play with the toys on it. We have a different walker now than we had with Wells, and it won't move at all if it is on the carpet. But I have put him in it on the floor of the kitchen, and he moved around little bit. I am sure he is going to take off in it soon once he really realizes what it does :) Grayer rolled from back to tummy for the first time about a week ago; so he can now roll both ways! We have been really busy this month (with vacation, Wells' birthday, etc.) so I haven't really tried him in the doorway jumper too much more since last month's update. I need to, though, because it was one of Wells' favorite things at this age. He still loves being outside, taking baths, and watching Wells do pretty much anything.

Milestones: Although I have mentioned milestones (rolling over, first solids, etc.) in each post, I am going to go ahead and add it as its own category :) And to start off, Grayer is cutting his first tooth! I noticed it a few days ago underneath the surface of his gums, and as of yesterday, it is starting to break through! His tooth has come in about 2 months before Wells' first tooth made its appearance. Grayer is handling it alright, but you can tell that it is a little uncomfortable. He is definitely using his teethers to ease the pain. And a not-so-fun milestone: we went to the doctor yesterday, and he has a bad cough and an ear infection :( We have to start a daily breathing treatment for about a week or so starting today - not looking forward to that. But hoping Grayer gets to feeling better soon!

It's been another fun month for sweet Grayer, and I know that in the short time before the next update, he'll already have tons of new skills and milestones to report. He is growing up so fast! Love our boy, and we can't wait to see what this month brings!
